Virginia’s men’s basketball team was arguably the best team in college basketball this season. The Selection Committee rewarded them with the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament as a result.
However, the Cavaliers got a pretty brutal draw.
Jay Williams thinks the Selection Committee missed the mark completely when seeding the South Region. As a result, No. 1 Virginia got a very tough road to the Final Four.
Williams said the South Region is by far the “most difficult.”
The former Duke star turned ESPN analyst does not see Virginia making it out of the region. He’s going with the No. 4 seed.
Williams has Arizona emerging from the region to go all the way. He’s picking the Wildcats to win it all.
The NCAA Tournament is set to begin on Tuesday with the play-in games. The first round starts on Thursday.
Virginia begins play on Friday. The Cavaliers are set to take on No. 16 UMBC at 9:20 p.m. on Friday.
The game will be televised on TNT.
