For the male users here, do you play as female characters on the roster? Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nintendo Switch

I'm curious how many males here play as female characters. Do you feel a stigma playing as a girl especially online if you're male in real life? Can you play as Peach, Isabelle, Zelda, Samus, etc?

Yes. Faves are Zero Suit Samus and Palutena.

Yup. If I like a character, I play as them. Gender has nothing to do with it.

I'm not going to get on someone's case for playing as a female character, that's ResetERA's thing.

No, but not intentionally. None of the current female characters resonate with the way I play. I gave Rosalina & Luma a shot for a little while because I like the teamwork characters, but it didn't work out. I'd give Shantae a go if they added her at some point, or Blaze from Streets of Rage.

I know some places and I've seen some faces, I've got good connections, they dig in my directions. What people say, that's okay, they don't bother me.

I don't think anyone over the age of 15 has ever thought. "Pfft. No way dude. I don't wanna play as the girl!"

We got a message from the action man: "I'm happy, hope you're happy, too."

Exactly these.

Please f*** off already, Cybercuck. You are a joke and waste of both time and space.

Yeah, I like playing as female characters more than male characters. I play as every female character except for Samus, Dark Samus, Daisy, Sheik, Lucina, and female Corrin. Daisy is the only female character that I dislike, the others are fine.

Unless Jigglypuff or the Ice Climbers count (regardless of which one's leading), I don't really main* any female fighter, but I do still occassionally play as some of them every now and then. Zelda, Peach, or Isabelle are probably the ones I choose more often than the others.

*(Then again, I don't really have a single main, or even a small handful of mains, there are still just too many characters I genuinely enjoy playing as to really narrow it down. Hero's kinda creeping up there, though...)

Not in Smash Ultimate, but in Smash 4, I mained Bayonetta. In Fire Emblem Awakening and Three Houses, I played male characters first, and then alternated from there on repeat playthroughs (more so for Three Houses than Awakening, only replayed it because I deleted it and didn't back up my data, but eventually decided I wanted to play the spotpass maps). In games like Skyrim where I create my character, I pick genders based on the aesthetic of the character I'm going for.

So no, I don't feel any stigma about playing a female character.

All of my main characters in all Smash games are all dudes.

That being said, if Dixie Kong ever made it, she would probably be one of my more used characters. I played a lot of DKC2 in the past, and I used her more than Diddy due to the hair glide ability. I use all the DKC characters quite a bit so she would probably fall into the same situation as DK, K. Rool, and Diddy

Zelda is my main.

So yes.

No, what's cheap is nature, making bears so much more dangerous than I. So I evened the playing field. With a door.

If this were an MMORPG or a game where you create a custom character, I can kind of see this topic's validity. But in a game where characters have vastly different playstyles? It's something that has literally never crossed my mind. The closest I can think of is the characters with male/female variations, but even then, I just pick the one that I like more.
even in an mmorpg case this is a dumbass topic

Seriously. Sometimes the male version of a race have terrible animations. In WoW, the male Pandarens are essentially Kung Fu panda rips that look totally lame. The female pandarens actually look like they know how to fight.

I know a have a few friends who ONLY play female characters in all games. All of them are either-gay/bisexualOR-socially awkward as f*** who try to pull the whole "idk I just really like this character" shtick.

And I know straight guys who are social butterflies who also prefer female characters.

People who actually believe the characters in video games represent themselves in some way have issues.

I used Palutena a lot around launch. Not so much now.

Sometimes I use Daisy online.

Lucina is my most used FE character because I feel like Roy isn;t as good here as he was in Smash4

I used to play as Shiek a lot. Not so much in Ultimate.

Does Dark Samus count?

Zelda and especially Isabelle are in my heavy rotation. Dark Samus too, if you count her.

I'd main Dixie like no tomorrow if Sakurai wakes up.

Of the five characters I regularly play exactly two and a half of them (Peach, Zelda, Nana as the half character) are female. Meanwhile the remaining characters are an unknown gender (Duck Hunt) and a robot (Mega Man) that looks, behaves and presumably identifies as male but would technically be anatomically genderless or else Dr. Light’s got some serious explaining to do, so if anything I guess I play more female characters than male ones.

Not content with cutting popular features from future games, Game Freak has now taken it upon themselves to cut Pokemon from gen 8.

Ah, right, I also play as Jigglypuff, if she counts.

Do people actually base who they play as on their gender? My mains are all guys, but that's because I love their games and/or have been playing them a long time (Marth, Simon, Hero for the record). Way back in OG Smash, I played as Samus almost as often as my actual main, Link. The thought of "I'm playing as a girl" never occurred to me.

let's make the world a better place! (BANG!) Done.

I like women, not men, so staring at a dude's butt all day is boring. Females all the way!

Why do people waste so much time talking about things they don't like? They should just talk with like minded people about things they really enjoy!
