The teenage son of former Manchester United star Paul Scholes faced court yesterday, charged with assaulting a man in a pub.
Arron Scholes "laughed hysterically" as he attacked Robert Kember at an unnamed pub in Oldham in June last year, Tameside magistrates court was told.
The 19-year-old is also accused of taking a photo of his alleged victim's face.
Mr Kember was unable to give full details of the incident due to the “nature of the assault and effect on him”, The Sun reported from the court.
Scholes, a striker for non-league Royton Town, was accompanied to court by his dad Paul, 44, mum Claire, and sister Alicia, 17.
Scholes, of Grasscroft, Greater Manchester, denies assault. He will stand trial at the same court on March 18.
If convicted, Scholes could face up to six months’ jail.
